Mingo Meals for Nutritional Support

Typhoon Nalgae first made landfall in the Philippines on October 29. Even before the typhoon made landfall, it brought heavy rain to many parts of the country. Though not classified as a super typhoon, Paeng managed to cause a lot of damage and quite a number of casualties.

Because of heavy flooding, many families in Negros fled to evacuation centers. On October 29, NVC Foundation began sending Mingo Meals to these evacuation centers. Studies show that stress increases the body’s need for nutrition, so we sent Mingo to give the children a nutrition boost.

The foundation also sent Mingo to the nearby province of Antique (near Boracay Island). A landslide had buried several towns and many families had moved to evacuation centers.Volunteer Ariel Lastica demonstrates how to prepare Mingo to families at Barangay Igburi, Patnongon, Antique
