Emergency Response after June 8 Earthquake
On June 8, 2026, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck several provinces in Mindanao in the southern part of the Philippines. General Santos City (GenSan) reported the highest intensity. As part of NVC’s emergency response to this disaster, the team sent over Mingo. Mingo Meals are easy to prepare and provide good nutrition because they contain rice, monggo (mung beans) and malunggay (moringa).
In addition to Mingo, we sent over boxes of huggable stuffed toys. Studies show that hugging something soft can help people cope with stressful situations. Huggable stuffed toys and Mingo are always part of our emergency response efforts.
While our contribution may be small, we hope they will help the children and families affected by the quake.
