It may not be immediately clear, but this is a photo of a fishing boat destroyed by the strongest storm to hit the Philippines in 2014, Ruby (international name: Hagupit). This super typhoon hit the Philippines in early December and forced the evacuation of millions of Filipinos. It made landfall in the Visayas, hitting many of the areas that had already been devastated by Typhoon Yolanda the year before. These include Biliran, Masbate, and Samar. NVC is now accepting donations and pledges for fishing boats, to restore the livelihoods of fishermen whose boats and sources of income were destroyed by Typhoon Ruby. NVC is also working with communities to help rebuild stronger and better, to help them withstand future calamities.
