Ella Aglipay Delio is a Filipino based in New Orleans. Because the city was under lockdown, Ella had to think of a creative way to celebrate her birthday. She chose to celebrate by entertaining family and friends with a virtual jazz show. Guests from all over gathered at an online meeting featuring New Orleans jazz artist Wendell Brunious. A portion of their gifts of support were allocated to NVC’s COVID-19 crisis response projects.

Ella’s birthday event raised enough funds to provide 60 families in Negros Occidental with The Feeding Force meal bags. Each meal bag contained enough vegetables, fish, rice, and Mingo Meals to put 5 full meals on a table for 5. For months, many people had had very little to eat but thanks to Ella, their hearts and stomachs were full again.
