Community pantries have sprung up all over the Philippines and NVC has been contributing to several in Negros Occidental. We began with the cities of Bacolod, Silay and Talisay. We’ve been supplying them with fresh produce, dried fish and Mingo. The produce comes from our partner small farmers and the dried fish from Peter Project fishermen. NVC buys all these at fair prices. Mingo continues to be a popular emergency meal among both adults and kids. We’ve been matching donations for Mingo one to one so there’s lots of Mingo to go around! Thank you to our generous supporters who make these donations possible!

Even though they’re wearing masks, you can tell that those who visited the community pantries have huge smiles on their faces! Follow us on FB as we hop from one community pantry to the next.

The sign below says “help one another” and that’s exactly what we witnessed at community pantries. Some people who came to get fish and vegetables for themselves brought a bag of fruits from their tree to share with others. A rice cake vendor took some vegetables and offered some of her wares in return. How blessed we are to witness so much kindness even in such difficult times!
