Peter Project turnover in Carles, Iloilo

57 fishermen from Carles, Iloilo meet their Peter Project boats at sea

This story began way back in November 2013, when the ravage of Typhoon Yolanda was still fresh, and Peter Project2 was still an infant.   It is the story of one company who held donations of concerned international associates and sought to find a responsible conduit for these. Its CEO heard of Peter Project2 from some remote sources, but was wary of entrusting precious donations to an unknown, small and provincial-based NGO.   Second and third hand introductions put us together, and soon and we were entrusted with a donation for 57 boats by Plastilens through its CEO, Butchie Silvosa.   Their wait was long, but they were patient. And their patience rewarded them yesterday, as they sailed towards the island of their 57 fishermen.
54 boats donated thru Plastilens, and 3 from BCBP Makati and Ligaya ng Panginoon, meet up their donors mid-sea, on the way to their island.

Midway into their sailing journey to the island, 57 boats first appeared as tiny dots on the horizon, then progressed into recognizable images, accompanied by the sound of their engines which intensified into a happy crescendo as they moved towards the donors’ boat. This was followed by graceful turns around the boat, until the 57 boats finally surrounded it and sailed along with it towards the island.   Someone once told us that we should organize a regatta of Peter Project boats, but we thought it was too pompous for us who always wish to do things quietly and simply.   And even if this spectacle looked like a regatta, it really wasn’t. It was a warm embrace of gratitude, from 57 happily colored love boats to one white boat on which generous hearts of love sailed.   We thank all those who made this new love story possible.
