2,500th Peter Project boat On June 19, 2014, in the remote island-barangay Lat-asan in Capiz, Panay, we turned over our 2,500th boat, one of the 36 donated by the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). JDC is the world’s leading Jewish humanitarian assistance organization.   The beneficiary was fisherman Noli Alabanis, who was so poor that he could only afford to send one of his five children to school. Typhoon Yolanda destroyed his house and his fishing boat.   Today, with the generosity of our donors, Noli and 2,499 other fishermen who lost their boats to the powerful typhoon, breathe new hope.   More boats are on their way!   Maya Kroitoru, JDC representative in the Philippines Thank you, Maya Kroitoru, JDC representative in the Philippines, for attending today’s Peter Project turnover of boats!
